Lancaster City Council have written to David Morris MP to ask for his help in convincing Lancashire Fire Authority, run by County Councillors, not to cut a FIre Fighting Appliance in Lancaster.
David Morris MP has already publicly opposed the decision by Lancashire Fire Authority to remove a full time appliance in Lancaster by tabling a Parliamentary Motion back in May which said:
That this House notes the fantastic work Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service crews carry out in Morecambe and Lunesdale constituency; further notes the vast amount of public safety work carried out by those teams; and deplores Lancashire Fire Authority's decision to remove an appliance from Lancaster fire station.
Speaking after receiving the letter from the City Council David Morris MP said:

Following the Council's correspondence I have written to Local Government Minister Brandon Lewis MP to ask if there are any steps the Government can make centrally to step in when local Fire Authorities have made wrong decisions which could affect safety in an area'
