David Morris MP visited Bay Leadership Academy in Heysham last Friday to meet with staff and students following the one year anniversary of the school becoming an academy.
Bay Leadership Academy is run by Star Academies, a multi-academy trust with schools across England.
David Morris MP said:
“I was delighted to visit Bay Leadership Academy to hear of the great work that has been done over the past year to ensure that students are fulfilling their full potential.
I was pleased to meet with Head Boy Brandon Hunter and Head Girl Georgia Greenhow during my visit on Friday to hear of their exiting plans for University in the future. Special congratulations to Brandon who has won a place at an extremely prestigious ballet school.
I was particularly pleased that the EBacc would form the main part of the G.C.S.E curriculum going forward. With the school looking to create a unique selling point for our students allowing them to excel with their options too. It was worrying to hear that some of the courses previously being offered at G.C.S.E were not approved qualifications and I am pleased that the school have addressed this. We need the very best for our young people and must make sure that when they leave school they have the best qualifications to ensure they succeed in the job market.
Whilst visiting the school I also spoke with staff regarding recent concerns. Sadly, there are many rumours and mistruths about the school and these only serve to concern parents unnecessarily. I would urge any parents who have any concerns about their child’s education to go and speak to the school as they will be happy to help.
With roll numbers increasing in the new Year 7 intake in September it is an exciting time for the school and I look forward to following the schools achievements as the implemented changes improve standards in education.”
Lisa Crausby, Executive Director of Education at Star Academies, said:

We believe that education transforms lives and that all children deserve to be given the best chance to fulfil their potential and achieve their ambitions.”
