The Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris has today welcomed news that the Mobile Homes Act 2013 will become law this week. The legislation will give more rights to park home owners.
For several years, David Morris MP has been campaigning for rights for park home owners. The new legislation means that park home site owners will not be allowed to become involved in the buying or selling of park homes which means that site owners will no longer be able to force a sale or prevent a sale. The legislation will also make it more difficult for park home site owners to impose unexpected charges and local authorities will be given greater powers to enforce breaches making it easier to prosecute park home site owners.
David Morris MP said:
“Some of the stories I have heard from constituents who are park home owners have been horrific. I am very pleased this legislation has been introduced into law. One of my constituents once said to me ‘we just want the same rights as people who live in properties built from bricks and mortar’ and I think this legislation does that. The many legitimate park home site owners will have the freedom for their business to flourish.”
“The Government has also introduced a special helpline which will be ran by the Leasehold Advisory Service.”
