The Office of National statistics released September 2014’s figures today (15th October) at 9.30am. The number of Jobseeker's Allowance claimants in Morecambe and Lunesdale constituency in September 2014 was 1,290. This represents a rate of 3.2% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64.
The number of claimants is 490 lower than in September 2013 and 39 lower than in August 2014.
Speaking from his office in Westminster David Morris MP said;
‘I am delighted at today’s unemployment figures. I met with George Osborne this morning to talk about the economic successes in Morecambe and I was pleased to share with him that under his long term economic plan unemployment figures are continuing to fall.
This shows that Morecambe is open for business and more people are feeling the benefits of being in employment.’
