David Morris MP, the Government's first self employment ambassador, welcomes the publication of the independent self employment review today (14th February) conducted by Julie Deane OBE.
Speaking on the publication of the report David Morris MP said' I am delighted to see the publication of the independent self employment review. It is especially important that both the Prime Minsiter and the Secretary of State for Business Innovation and skills have both welcomed the report as this shows how seriously this Government takes self employment, one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK. As a former self employed businessman myself I know only too well the pitfalls of self employment and I also hold regular meetings with other people who are self employed. I am pleased to see the recommendations that Julie makes are wide ranging and cover the issues that really matter to self employed people. I met with Julie Deane when she was formulating the report and raised issues around complicated taxation, education around employers responsibilities and help for transitioning from a micro business to a small or even medium sized business, all of which have been included. I look forward to hearing the Government's full assessment of this report in due course.'
