Thank you for contacting me about leaving the EU without a deal.
The Prime Minister has said that the UK will leave the EU by 31 October. The Government will seek a new deal with the EU but will also prepare for every eventuality.
It is clear that there would be challenges to leaving the EU without a deal. The Government's own analysis has predicted that GDP could be around 7.7 per cent smaller compared to current trading arrangements over the next 15 years. While the UK would also not introduce any new checks at the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, it would have no control over processes applied to goods moving into the Republic.
That is why I am working hard to ensure that the UK leaves with a deal. A Withdrawal Agreement would ensure that the country honours the referendum result and leaves the EU in an orderly way. It would help to protect jobs, support the economy and safeguard our precious union of nations.
